I bought the game to play with my GF, we love co-op games, she loves cute stuff, I loved Ico/SoC/TLG etc. so this seemed like it wouldn’t have to try at all to be something we enjoyed. For this reason I had no issue dropping 30 quid on a new game with no reviews on Steam, and although I do regret the purchase, I’ll do the same thing again simply to encourage more co-op games on Steam.
HOWEVER. This is not a co-op game. There’s barely enough game play here to qualify as a single player experience, spreading those tasks between two characters just means that one of the people playing has nothing to do half the time and vice versa. And I mean literally nothing to do. You just wait for the other person to do the bit that you’d have swapped characters for, you’re never engaging at the same time with anything. The split screen is awful.
There’s no button to locate your co-op partner and the environments are so bland you have no concept of where they are even by looking on their screen. It legitimately feels like it was something they just realized they could tack on at the end, which is odd given the core concept of the game.
That core concept itself is so nut-achingly dull it goes beyond belief. I honestly cannot stress to you enough how boring this game is. I have played some truly awful, broken, repetitive, even offensive games in the name of playing co-op and I have never been so unable to have fun when sat next to someone I’m playing with. How this game was signed off on, at a 30 pound price tag no less, is inconceivable.

MouseCraft PC Game Overview
MouseCraft is a Lemmings-like puzzle game where you have to get at least one of three mice from the start to the target platform. The mice themselves will just move into one direction until they reach an obstacle, however they are able to climb over edges which are one block high. To modify the level you have a limited set of blocks resembling the well known Tetris blocks which can be placed before releasing the mice or during gameplay. The game may also be paused to place additional blocks or think about the next move.
The game’s experiments are conducted by Dr. Schrödinger, a cat scientist. To finance his experiments (i.e. reaching the later levels) the mice will have to collect crystals (called Anima Shards) spread around the levels. When progressing you will get additional block types like Jelly Bricks (making it possible for your mice to fall more than 3 blocks without dying) or crumbling bricks (which will dissolve after 2 mice walked over them). Once set most blocks cannot be moved any more, but may be erased by collecting bombs in the level. Blocks will fall down if they aren’t held any more, which can also be used to block or kill robotic enemy mice called ‘Ratoids’.
